2024 Youth of the Year

Zaida E.

As a homeschooled student, Zaida began attending the Club as a way to make new friends and meet other kids her age. When she found herself feeling self-conscious and nervous about being in a new place, Club staff gave her the encouragement and inspiration she needed to reach out to others.

“[Club staff] taught me to not give in to fear and to try my best even when I’m scared. I knew that I could always talk to any staff and receive comfort, guidance, as well as support.”

By participating in leadership programs, service projects, and community events, Zaida has been able to come out of her shell, build meaningful relationships with other Club members, and feel empowered to be herself.

“Slowly I gained confidence and started showing others who I was by including myself in activities, speaking up more, and just being me.”

Zaida learned what she is capable of and has stepped into numerous leadership roles at the Club. She is striving to better her community, make an impact on younger generations, and inspire others.

“I now know that I am a strong young adult with a great mind and a great future who can make a difference in this world.”
